In 1937, the painter Reinhold Kündig (1888–1984) moved into the Hinterrüti with his family. The house and its studio annex were designed for him by his friend, the architect Heinrich Bräm—renowned for the Sihlpost in Zurich. It was here that Kündig worked, focusing primarily on landscapes in oil and watercolor. To this day, the studio’s interior is characterized by these paintings, which often capture the immediate surroundings.

In 1994, Kündig’s granddaughter, Katharina Anderson, began hosting concerts, festivals, and banquets at the Hinterrüti. Since then, this picturesque location has become a well-known and cherished destination for lovers of exquisite music. To further support the mission of hosting concerts here, the "Atelier Hinterrüti" association was founded in 2007.
